The Pear Brilliant cut (Teardrop) is an asymmetrical shaped diamond comprised of 58 facets with a variable length to width ratio.
Like all asymmetrically shaped diamonds buyers should be wary of the 'bow-tie' effect. This is a dark area eminating from the center of the diamond and radiating towards the sides in the shape of a bow tie.
This is generally considered undesirable but is virtually unavoidable in the majority of these diamonds to some degree. Like all asymmetrically shaped diamonds these stones must be viewed visually by an expert in order to determine desirability.
