Question 1

What should I look for in a lab-grown Pear diamond?

Accepted Answer

The same things you would evaluate in a natural Pear: symmetry of the shoulders, definition of the point, minimal bow-tie effect, and a balanced length-to-width ratio (1.50 to 1.70 is most popular). These are properties of the cut, not the origin. At Icestore, every lab-grown Pear includes 360-degree video and full IGI or GIA certification so you can evaluate all of these characteristics. We recommend a V-prong setting to protect the point.

Question 2

How much larger can I go with a lab-grown Pear vs. natural?

Accepted Answer

Lab-grown Pear diamonds cost 80 to 95 percent less than natural, so most buyers can size up by 1 to 2 carats within the same budget. A buyer considering a 1-carat natural Pear can typically afford a 2- to 3-carat lab-grown Pear with equivalent or superior color and clarity. Since the Pear shape already appears larger face-up than a Round, the combined size advantage is striking.
