Question 1

Do lab-grown Princess cut diamonds need corner protection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Lab-grown Princess cut diamonds have the same physical properties as natural Princess cuts — including four pointed corners that are vulnerable to chipping. A setting with V-prongs or bezel corners is recommended regardless of diamond origin. At Icestore, founder Ari Gold can help you select or design a setting that protects the corners while maximizing the stone's visual impact.

Question 2

Why are lab-grown Princess cuts such a good value?

Accepted Answer

The Princess cut already offers excellent value because its shape retains roughly 80 percent of the rough diamond during cutting, resulting in less waste and lower cost per carat. When combined with lab-grown pricing (80 to 95 percent less than natural), the savings compound — a 1.5-carat lab-grown Princess with excellent specifications often costs less than a 0.75-carat natural Round of comparable quality. This makes the lab-grown Princess one of the most cost-effective options for maximum visual impact.
