Question 1

What is a Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond?

Accepted Answer

A Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond is a natural diamond graded by GIA as having the highest possible color saturation for yellow diamonds. It is the rarest and most sought-after grade on the fancy yellow color scale, above Fancy Intense Yellow. Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds display an electric, deeply saturated golden color that is immediately captivating — the absolute peak of what nature can produce in a yellow diamond. They are estimated to occur in roughly 1 in every 100,000 gem-quality diamonds mined, making them among the rarest gemstones in the world.

Question 2

How much do Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds cost?

Accepted Answer

Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds typically range from $8,000 to $25,000 or more per carat depending on carat weight, clarity, cut, and shape. Exceptional stones above 3 carats with high clarity can command significantly higher prices. They are the most valuable grade of yellow diamond due to their extreme rarity and unmatched color saturation. Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds have historically performed well at major auction houses, with notable stones achieving record prices. At Icestore, every Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond is shown with transparent pricing alongside its complete GIA grading report.

Question 3

Are Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds a good investment?

Accepted Answer

Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds are widely regarded as among the most collectible natural colored diamonds. Their extreme rarity — the highest intensity grade, found in approximately 1 in 100,000 diamonds — combined with strong and consistent demand from collectors and connoisseurs has historically supported strong value retention and appreciation. Major auction records for yellow diamonds are almost exclusively held by Fancy Vivid Yellow stones. However, like all alternative investments, past performance does not guarantee future returns, and buyers should combine investment considerations with genuine appreciation for the stone.
